About Us

Learn about our mission, history, and our affiliation with the Wikimedia movement.

Who We Are

The Wikimedia Community User Group Botswana (WCUGBW) is a volunteer-led affiliate of the Wikimedia Foundation based in Botswana. We are part of the global Wikimedia movement — the community of people who create and maintain Wikipedia and its sister projects.

Our group works to promote free knowledge, digital literacy, and Wikipedia editing across Botswana, with a particular focus on documenting local culture, history, people, and places that are underrepresented on Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons.
